General Books on Plants

by Dov Koller and Elizabeth Van Volkenburgh
by David Attenborough

While there is increasing research into plant behavior, there are not many books that emphasize possible mental behavior in plants. Two of these books, The Private Life of Plants by David Attenborough and The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird, are old and are light on hard science, but bring up many important questions about plants.  The Restless Plant is real science, a brilliant and deep study of plant movement by a pioneering scientist that raises current questions about what plants can do.  While not directly related to intelligence in plants, the Green Planet: How plants Keep the Earth Alive by Stanley Rice, details how the survival of all animals, including human beings, are integrally related to the complex behavior of plants.
